Hi there! I’m Jenn Hastings. I live in New Hampshire with my husband, our twins, and our shaggy dog Danny (named after the reporter on The West Wing).

I was lucky to have a relatively short infertility journey. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2015, the summer I turned 33. I did five letrozole cycles before moving on to injectables. I got pregnant with fraternal twins on my second cycle of Follistim.

My boys were born in February 2017 at 39+1, which is amazing for a twin pregnancy. I turned out to be much better at being pregnant than getting pregnant!

I started Fertility Harbor because I spent a lot of time obsessively Googling fertility-related questions, and I couldn’t find clear or reassuring answers. Here are the 3 kinds of websites I came across:

1) Huge medical websites.
These are heavy on confusing jargon and worst-case scenarios… like I wasn’t nervous enough already!

2) Personal blogs detailing individual infertility stories.
These are great as a therapeutic way for women to process their experiences, but they are not necessarily helpful for others in a similar boat. Many of these blogs also mix in other topics, like vacation stories and recipes.

3) Forums and message boards.
These provide a great way to bond with other women from around the globe who are going through the same thing, but wading through forums is not an efficient way to get questions answered. Once I got pregnant, I found that I had to stay away from these boards due to my own anxiety and survivor’s guilt.

Part of the reason I did so much online research is that most people do not discuss these topics in real life. Millions of women are affected by infertility and pregnancy loss, but it’s easy to feel like you’re the only one. My goal is to share practical, encouraging, real-life information to help break down those barriers and empower all the aspiring mamas out there.
